Yves Saint Laurent afirmó: “Un buen diseño puede soportar la
moda durante diez años.” El diseñador francés no se equivocó cuando lamentaba
no haber inventado esta pieza y si, hoy en día, nos atrevemos a confirmar la
(casi) eternidad de una prenda es del pantalón vaquero.
Desde el lejano oeste, a las calles más urbanitas; desde el
trabajador más humilde, hasta la realeza; todos caemos rendidos ante ese tejido
de algodón azulado que tantas prendas ha ido protagonizando a lo largo de los
años. El tejido denim no se resiste a territorios, géneros ni generaciones y
150 años después de que Levis Strauss presentase el primer modelo de pantalones
vaqueros, estos siguen (y seguirán estando) en la cresta de la ola.
No solo conformes con los pantalones este sencillo y cómodo
tejido fue dando vida a todo tipo de prendas y complementos con los que
conformar algunos de los estilismos más icónicos del panorama fashion: el denim
on denim o el total denim look seguirán siendo la eterna respuesta a
esos días en los que no sabes qué ponerte, porque ya sabes el dicho: “When
in doubts, where denim.” (Cuando dudes, ponte vaqueros).
Yves Saint Laurent stated, "A good design can withstand fashion for ten years." The French designer was not wrong when he regretted not having invented this piece and if, today, we dare to confirm the (almost) eternity of a garment it's of the jeans.
From the far west to the most urban streets; from the humblest worker to royalty; we all fall in love with this bluish cotton fabric that has been the protagonist of so many garments over the years. The denim fabric doesn't resist territories, genres or generations and 150 years after Levis Strauss presented the first model of jeans, these are still (and will continue to be) on the crest of the wave.
Not only conforming to the jeans this simple and comfortable fabric was giving life to all kinds of garments and accessories with which to form some of the most iconic outfits of the fashion scene: the denim on denim or total denim look will remain the eternal answer to those days when you don't know what to wear, because you know the saying: "When in doubts, where denim".
